Upper Allen Deck Refresh
A tired wood deck brought back to life on its existing frame: old decking and railing out, new TimberTech composite, RDI railing, stairs and Azek trim in.
About This Build
This Upper Allen deck still had a sound frame under it, but everything the homeowners could see and touch had worn out: faded red-stained boards, a wobbly wood railing and a stair run that had seen too many winters. It did not need a full rebuild, so we did not sell one.
We kept the existing framing, added joist hangers where the original build had skipped them, and stripped everything above it. New TimberTech Weather Oak composite decking went down over the frame, and we built a new set of stairs down to the yard.
Railing is RDI white vinyl with black balusters, matched on the stairs, and the deck edge is wrapped in white Azek woodgrain PVC trim so no framing lumber shows. Same footprint, same frame, a deck that looks and feels brand new.
Finished
The refreshed deck: Weather Oak composite boards on the original frame, new stairs, RDI white railing with black balusters and white Azek trim.
Before
The original deck: red-stained wood boards, a worn wood railing and stairs, all on a frame that was still worth keeping.
