Outdoor Kitchens in Central PA
Stop running back and forth to the indoor kitchen. A custom outdoor kitchen built into your deck turns your backyard into a true outdoor living space — designed for Central PA's four seasons and built to last.
Bring the Kitchen Outside
Pennsylvania summers are made for outdoor cooking. The stretch from May through September in the Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, York, and Lancaster areas is perfect outdoor living weather — and a custom outdoor kitchen makes the most of every evening.
What TrueCraft builds isn't a freestanding island you bought at a box store. It's a custom-built outdoor kitchen that's structurally integrated into your deck — with proper footings, reinforced framing, utility rough-ins planned from day one, and materials engineered to survive Central PA winters.
Outdoor Kitchen Features We Build
Every outdoor kitchen is designed around how you actually cook and entertain. Mix and match features to build the setup that fits your lifestyle.
Built-In Gas Grill
Single or double burner configurations. We coordinate the gas stub-out with a licensed plumber during the deck build phase.
Stainless Countertops
Durable, easy to clean, and weather-resistant. Granite and concrete surfaces also available for a more upscale look.
Beverage Cooler / Mini Fridge
Outdoor-rated refrigeration built flush into the counter. Requires a dedicated GFCI circuit — planned during construction.
Storage Drawers & Cabinets
Weather-sealed stainless or powder-coated aluminum storage for tools, propane accessories, and supplies.
Sink & Running Water
Requires a plumbing stub-out and a frost-free shutoff valve for winter drainage. A convenience that transforms outdoor cooking.
Side Burner, Smoker & Pizza Oven
For serious outdoor chefs. Side burners for sauces and sides, built-in smokers, and wood-fired pizza ovens that become a backyard centerpiece.
Built for PA Winters
Central Pennsylvania winters are real. Outdoor kitchens need to handle sub-zero temperatures, freeze-thaw cycles, and heavy snow loads. TrueCraft specifies only weather-rated materials for outdoor kitchen construction:
Stainless Steel
Resists corrosion and temperature extremes. Industry standard for outdoor kitchen appliances and surfaces.
Powder-Coated Aluminum
Lightweight, rust-proof, and available in any color. The right choice for cabinet frames and drawer fronts.
Stone & Granite
Naturally weather-resistant and visually stunning. Sealed granite countertops hold up through PA seasons.
We never use wood cabinetry exposed to the elements — it won't survive two PA winters. All materials we specify have a track record in outdoor kitchens in cold climates.
Utility Planning — Done Right From the Start
Outdoor kitchens require real utility infrastructure. The best time to plan and rough-in utilities is during deck construction — not as an afterthought. TrueCraft coordinates all three utility types during the design phase:
Gas Line
We coordinate with a licensed plumber to run a gas stub-out to the kitchen location. Planned during deck design so the gas line is concealed in the framing. Permits typically required for gas work in all Central PA municipalities.
Electrical
Outdoor-rated GFCI circuits for outlets, refrigerator, lighting, and fan circuits. Run by a licensed electrician during construction with conduit concealed in the deck framing. We plan outlet placement during the design phase.
Water
Requires a plumbing stub-out from the house and a frost-free shutoff valve so the line can be drained each fall before freezing temperatures arrive. TrueCraft coordinates the rough-in; finish plumbing by a licensed plumber.
Outdoor Kitchen + Deck Design: A Zoned Approach
The most livable outdoor spaces are designed around distinct zones that flow naturally from one to another. TrueCraft designs your deck and kitchen as one integrated space:
Zone 1: Kitchen
Closest to the house for easy utility access. Built-in grill, counter, sink, and storage. Near the door to the indoor kitchen.
Zone 2: Dining
The middle zone with table and seating for 6–8. Shaded by a pergola overhead. Easy sight lines to both the kitchen and lounge areas.
Zone 3: Lounge
The far end of the deck — soft seating, fire pit or fire table, string lights overhead. The spot for lingering after dinner.
Outdoor Kitchen Investment in Central PA
Outdoor kitchen costs are in addition to the base deck and depend heavily on which features you include and the scope of utility work required. A simple setup with a built-in grill, counter, and storage is the most affordable starting point. Adding a refrigerator, sink, and running water increases cost and complexity. Full outdoor kitchens with pizza ovens, smokers, or premium appliances represent the upper end of the range. Utility rough-in (gas, electrical, water) is a significant cost variable — planned during construction it's much more affordable than retrofitted later.
